Have a holly jolly…

Christmas!  Yes, that time of year has swooped down upon us and it’s super cold outside!  I mean, really really cold!  When I drove by the reader board a few blocks from work this morning, it read 10 degrees!  I literally did a double take, it just seems so crazy.  Our poor house is struggling to warm the family that inhabits it.  Tonight as we put the girls to bed, and turned on the small space heaters in their rooms (since we don’t have heater vents in the upstairs, don’t worry it’s on the to-do list), a breaker blew and Claire’s heater turned off, including a couple lights downstairs.  After a little retrace of steps, I realized that normally her heater gets plugged into the other outlet on the far wall, not the one that also electrifies her lamp.  So far, so good.  Aw, winter…I’m not a huge fan of you, but you already know this.  I am much more of a hot weather girl, who seems to have found herself loving a not-so-hot place to live.  Ah well, what are you gonna do?

On to the events of the evening!  We decorated our beautiful tree!  We ordered a tree from the Boy Scouts through a co-worker of mine this year.  Not only did they deliver the tree, but they will also come back and pick it up for recycle after the new year.  How cool is that?  Not to mention that part of their proceeds go to feeding homeless families a holiday meal.  Bonus!  It’s a Noble Fir and it’s the biggest Christmas tree I’ve ever spent time with, let me tell you.  Here are some pictures, taken by myself, Claire and Mark so that no detail was missed…

Here are the girls' stockings that I made that same craft-filled year - I need to make the dogs each one, that's also on the to-do list (it's a pretty long list)...

Such a beautiful girl!

..final touch, the star - it was a pretty tall tree, did I mention that? After a couple attempts by Veda being hoisted up by Mark, I decided to give it a try.. I can still visualize myself falling into the tree, that would've put a damper on things just a bit...
