ice pellets and happy cats…

But not necessarily in that order…

On Saturday this last weekend, we joined my Mom, sister & nephews at Saturday Market downtown. It was opening weekend so the place was super crowded. Not to mention it was the most beautiful day we’ve had thus far (and we’ve had some good ones!). The sun was out, the people were happy and life was good. While at the market, we came upon one of my favorite booths where this woman makes pillows filled with cat nip for your feline’s enjoyment. And let me tell you, our felines were in for a treat! We purchased a pillow for our three furry four-legged friends at home, wondering how they would share it. Napoleon is our big orange fella, who has a seroius attitude problem. He thinks that he runs the place, but that is so not the case. Big Ears is the real cat in charge, mainly because she is the only female in the bunch and doesn’t take crap from anyone. Little Big Man is a special case, having fallen from a tree about two years ago on one of the hottest days of the summer, plunging 50 feet to the ground and landing flat on his belly. Luckily, he lived to tell the tale, albeit a little bit slower than before. He’s a big softy. As soon as I took the pillow out of the bag (and locked the dogs outside) all three of the cats came wandering in. They say the catnip has no scent, but I don’t know how else to explain them all knowing there was something happening in the living room. Napoleon was the first to get his paws on it…

Napoleon gave up rather easily, he's not one for sharing...

Enter Big Ears…

I love this look on her face, like "what? I'm just laying here...not inching my way towards the pillow, really..."

Clearly, we have too many cats.. anybody want one?

Did you catch the weird weather this afternoon here in Portland? It was a sunny morning, cold but not freezing with a fair amount of clouds in the sky. On my way home from work around 3pm it was starting to get a little dark up above, the clouds were resembling “the nothing”, but there were still bits of blue sky. Then about 4pm it started to rain, which quickly turned to little bits of ice, which prompted Claire to throw on her shoes and run outside to enjoy it!
